But seriously, she's totally one of those characters where I read the book the first time as a kid and thought "wow, she's awful" and now as an adult I'm just like "WHAT A BADASS. Great character."

Hey, I was upset that Nat died when I first read it too, but in retrospect I can accept it. The trilogy just wasn't cut out for a "happily ever after" ending.

Well, nothing is confirmed.. We dont know if he's dead or not, and i think the books will end like that. We'll never know

Really? I didn't get the impression that the books ended on the mystery of Nathaniel's fate. I thought it was pretty clear that he was dead.

I just read the last part again, and i agree :P. Havent read the books on a long time now..

EDIT: But, Stroud doesnt write that he actually died, we dont know and we'll never know.. But the chances is mostly that he's dead...

I think Stroud doesn't want to spoil our fun with crazy survival theories, but Nat is most likely very, very dead.

A good 90% of fanfiction for these books is literally just "okay, but what if Nat DIDN'T die!" Which I love. Good old collective denial. :)

Yes she does cause it is never explicitly mentioned that she died. Bartimaeus just seems to think so as supposedly no one can survive the Golem's attack.

Exactly. She technically had 7 seconds between the scream and Bartimaeus arriving on the scene to escape. Whereas Nathaniel supposedly died the split second after Bartimaeus was dismissed.
