She doesn't do anything evil and is actually one of the better magicians as she doesn't hide her motives from Nat. She even helps him out(for her own advantage of course) and at no point 'betrays' him. She becomes his enemy when he saves Bart instead of getting out the info. Nath would have done the same if it was any other djinn. In short, she is a realistic character. No offense to anyone here.
Yeah she is, and that's why she rubs me the wrong way. People like her, corrupt and ambitious, actually exist and could be leading our government. What she wants is for Nat to become just like her and she certainly succeeded in some aspects. We hate her because she is realistic.

Well, thanks for replying- by the way, are these forums dead?

But isn't Nat similar in that way too- he doesn't seem to care about Mwamba and the other djinni when they die. The only djinni he cares about is Bart and that"s because of the connection he has with Nat's past life. Don't get me wrong here, I really like Nat and predicted his death when Kitty joined the series in Golem's Eye.
P.S- What Stroud did with Farrar was very cliche and obvious in the last book.
Well yeah. The third book is partly about Nat realizing how much he despises what he's become.
Yeah the forums have been kinda flatlining for years. Things picked up when RoS came out, and then the Lockwood series.
The thing with Nat is that we know his background and that he wasn't always that way. He is an asshole at the start of book three but he gets better and realizes he's a jackass like Didier said.

Ive wondered this too, she's just a regular magician and never does anything particularly villainous. At the end she gets a bit whiny putting Nat down and wanting everyone to follow her, that could be a bit troupe-y. I just dislike how coldly she treats her spirits, the mouse djinni Yole is pathetically terrified of her.
I don't think we really see the other magicians behaving like that without being the villain figure, so Jane kinda stands out. The only other character who we see treating their spirits like cabbage is Nat, and he's the main character, so...

Looks like I've started a discussion here! :) Well in my country India everyone is corrupt so I really don't think Farrar is bad hell she doesn't even use her power to kill people. She didn't do anything to harm Nat even when they became enemies. What they did wth Farrar was a cliche as Chiz rightly points out. I daresay that she should be PM of England after the last book.
That... doesn't really say good things about your government, methinks. Yeah, it was pretty cliche, but if they had redeemed her like with Nat it would have been even more cliche. About being PM I don't think she will, seeing as the whole government was torn down, it would be easier to build a new one.

Or we have people like Luciene who actively led the John/Jane ship. :D
I liked Jane, in her seductress type of way.
流口水的婊子和猴子的笨儿子。
@Mwamba I don't exactly think they will end up together as they both are very ambitious.
It's good to see another person who doesn't consider Ms. Farrar an idiot.
I don't consider her an idiot, I consider her human but there's just no personal liking XD

Well then, everyone has their own views. :)
She couldn't have been PM after the last book. She died.
She did not die- presumed dead is DIFFERENT from dead
Mmmmkay. Fair enough. Still. Seeing as we all agree she should have stepped into a role as PM, and instead she's nowhere to be found... draw your own conclusions.
But I'm interested. If she isn't dead, what is your theory about her fate?
I believe that she either is kept alive for future books-
Maybe she will be PM (highly likely) when Nat is mysteriously resurrected or if Bart is summoned in a new book by Kitty in that timeframe.
OR
She might help(highly unlikely) Nat by biting(yes she is a werewolf) his hip wound to save Nat as shown in a fanfic 'She-Wolf Rising'.
OR
She is kept alive to be a future villian/ evil person who ends up helping Nat- also not likely.
Perhaps this is unpopular, but I like it that Nathaniel died. It gives closure to his story arc.
Others have said the same. But for me characters exist outside of the story, so wanting a liked (loved) character to die because it makes a better story is pretty detached. Nathaniel was only seventeen besides.
