Haven't read it, but a damn good movie. The pirate captain reminded me of Julio Scoundrel of OotS fame.
Yes, me too. Very much so.

Book's definitely worth reading. Even better than the film.

Well, do you like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings?
Try Eragon. It is not too bad.
Finished Kite Runner. T'was awesome! And, in a way, sad too. But I loved it.

YES Gladstone!

There you are. http://www.12thebook.com/author.php
Pfft. An elaborate hoax, no doubt.

Nero's probably one of the twelve. That's why this forum exists.

Reading star wars = social suicide.
I got halfway through the story. I finished book 3 but couldn't really get into the later ones.
I'dve thought Gladstone or Sentynel would be one of the reasons.

Read the beach by Alex Garland or Perfume by Patrick Susskind then compare the writing to Eragon, all I'm saying.

Ugh Perfume. What a stupid ending.

No, his writing is pretty poor. But the story isn't. I know a lot of it has been copied from Star Wars, but since I have not seen/read Star Wars, it doesn't seem like a repeat to me.

I can excuse borrowing the basic idea (Star Wars) or setting (LOTR) in a work if the writing is good and has enough original concepts. Paolini's definitely missing the first, but he's doing okay with the second. Still too derivative though.

Also the way he writes languages is all wrong. His languages are more of codes with new words substituting old ones instead of having a different structure. Not too important; but it's a point that's really bothered me.

Yeah, like I said, his writing is bad.
Reading Japanese Wife by Kunal Basu (short stories).

Oh come on, you can't expect the man to invent an actual new language, that's reserved for REALLY NERDY things like Star Trek :P
