I don't think it has, lauris. I've never heard of it.

Artemis Fowl will have one last book and yes, it seemed a bit empty.

I absolutely hate Animal Farm. Maybe if you lived on a farm and undertood how things work there, you would realize you can't compare it to Stalin.

Oh honestly, it isn't supposed to be a realistic portrayal of a farm. That's just a convenient basis for a satire of a country.

It makes me so mad though. Animals are meant to be used the way they are, and they make it sound like its bad that we drink cow milk, eat ham, use horses to plow...

They screw up the food chain. Animals eat other animals to survive, cats eat mice and birds... and in the book the animals aren't even allowed to follow that rule of life. And not allowing the horse to have ribbons and shoes, the shoes help their feet when walking on cement and other ruogh surfaces.

All of my grandparents own farms. And he's not really trying to compare it...

Who says animals should be used like that?

Firstly, that's the whole point of the book - the execution of communism in the USSR was bloody silly.

And secondly, on a tangent here, who says animals are meant to be used the way they are?

That's what I just asked, Sent.

If Snowball ( or Trotsky) hadn't left, they wouldn't have become so corrupt.

Maybe communism could have worked. Better.

I asked a slightly different question.

Communism could work, if it's executed properly. However, this isn't a perfect world, so it won't be.

Whatever.

I agree. I mean, where are we going to find people who aren't greedy and out for themselves?

I thought animal Farm was okay. I mean killing the horse was stupid, that horse (Boxer?) was great. But, otherwise I liked it.

Yes, but the whole point is that that was stupid.

I say animals are supposed to be used that way, for the longest time they have, so why change that now. It isn't a bad thing to use them that way. It just really torks me how they compare it, they make it sound like farming is a bad thing. It really isn't a farm if you don't use the "work" horses for work, the chickens for eggs, and the hogs for bacon or litters. Its more of a zoo than a farm like that.

Right. Humans are pretty much meant to have dominion over plants and animals.

Just because somthing has happened for ages doesn't mean that its right.

I am not pro-animal rights in a way that threatens Human lives.

Indeed, I don't disagree with the way we use animals, but I do find it interesting that nobody can actually justify why we should be able to, other than that we can and have been for a long time. Statements like "humans are meant to have dominion over plants and animals" are nonsense; meant by whom? Us? Maybe that cow thinks it's meant to have dominion over us.

The point of Animal Farm is that the pigs take over with the ideals of a perfect happy farm where nobody actually does any work. They then proceed to fail to achieve that utopia. It's not saying that animals working is a bad thing, it's saying that it's a bad thing given what they'd set out to achieve, whether or not their target was the 'right' thing, and it's not what they were aiming for - and indeed they go right back to where they started from in the end.
