I disagree with "Thus "grabbers" may be interpreted as an adjective, modifying the definition of "land". But it's a stretch." It isn't. Interpreting "land" as an adjective modifying "grabbers", maybe, but it doesn't work the other way around. Cut the adjective out and you get "they're grabbers", which makes sense, or "they're land", which doesn't.
