Wow. That would be awesome. But unrealistic.
And I always though that Patterknife was the afrit killed by the golem.
About the Tchue afrit, I wonder how Bartimaeus survived him.

They have musket-type guns, cos the troops in Prague shoot at Barti and Nat with them. No machine guns, though, and magic and close combat weapons still seem to be the standard choices.

John Gatling didn't come along 'till the 198th Century unfortunatly, 'least in this reality.

I always wonder what would happen if the commoners (or muggles incase of HP) would start using guns, bombs etc. They would just end up bombarding the magicians & wizards.

I don't think so. How difficult would it be to direct a bomb towards Nouda/Voldermort? And somehow scientific weapons are more precise & effective then a spell cast by a person.

Who want to read about that? Bomb drops, story over. I'd rather have them skip the bombs. Besides, they would probably have some way of escaping...

Remember the soldiers in Prague in Golem's Eye? Barti only had a problem with them because they were using silver bullets. I doubt guns and bombs would beat the magicians somehow.

I don't even think Bush's nuclear weapons and his 150000 strong army could defeat the magicians. One: His army always does friendly fire (quite a few Canadians died from them) especially the air force, two, he has a limit on his army, and the Other Place doesn't. Three: the nuclear weapons would be intercepted after the first few nuclear runs.
If the UN participated...well they would need the British navy.
And I doubt Bush's army would use silver bullets, so the spirits can't die from the gunfire.
It would be like in the first chapter of PG where the guy stabbed Bart with a knife and he just pulled it out, perfectly fine.
Drop guns. Say, if the magicians are all closeted together somewhere, a bomb would kill them all. Nat says the same to Kitty when they go to the theatre. Otherwise, yes, the magicians would win for sure.

Yes, I it is.
But there seriously have been friendly fire, no offense to Americans here.
The magicians would easily be killed by a bomb, not djinn. Take about a ton to kill a few.

They'd do the same things as the British: Bypass the Djinn & kill the Magicians.

Second choice. I'd like it if some politician's weren't so thick. I can deal with some who have difficulties putting two and two, but not stubborn idiots, though I can be one of em.
