I know some people who do, and they've generally said it's good, but not really a quantum leap over XP (One guy had Aero switched on for a week and didn't even realise...) and that it's, of course, plagued with compatibility problems - no sound hardware acceleration, missing or unreleased drivers, various programs and games that don't run or just crash regularly, and the usual Windows idiocy like IE7 not supporting Aero.

You can do that in xp. I had a video wallpaper on my desktop for a while, til I got bored of it.

Thanks for the link.

I've seen some screenshots of vista and i have to say, the new interface looks alot better, higher definition and that...
The only way to get a good working system is to buy a whole new tower. I've had to reconfigure my computer (Originally Windows 98) 4 times over the past two weeks! I've had problems with the soundcard, with the memory, with the graphics card...That was when I upgraded it to Xp. I don't dare think of what it might do ir I bring it up to Vista...

But I do want Vista, although I'd have to buy a whole new computer for it. Damn incompatability! <_<

No wonder you had problems with xp if it was originally a 98 machine.

I need a new monitor. My current one is an ancient 15" TFT with a bloody great mark down the middle. I've got my eye on a 19" widescreen for £120.

Vista just looks like XP with a nice new face lift...

My old family comp was origanally 98...We added about 256MB ram, and XP ran pretty good...For a while at least. Right before we upgraded, it was taking something like 2-3 minutes to start up, and at least 30sec. to open Firefox. With our new iMac, it takes 30sec. to start up, and maybe 5sec to open safari.

"This is a bad Post"

Sentynel's standards are pretty low.

And Rekhyt, are you kinding me? Aero is what to XP what XP is to 2000.

wow, you have faster speeds, what a reason to change to macs :rolleyes the only trouble is the programs that would have been slow to start up take no time at all the start up on a mac because they don't work on macs. Very silly, you should have just upgraded to a much better PC.

With Bootcamp, yes.

But the fact no one wants to run OS X on a PC is telling...

*sigh* waiting for Aero. Till then, I have this:
