This could be true as well. This society is so creepy...
Maybe skully is going to talk about it in the next book since he is a Type 3 after all. It would be the most logical thing.

I certainly hope he gets to play a major role, he's my favourite character.

Hello all, its been a while since my first post, but i have been reading the comments by other users on here. Some cool stuff and theories being shared.

Reading a few old posts and the transcript from last years chat there seems to be a a few people who believe Lucy will end up with George. Now this makes me wonder what will happen im book 3. Lucy clearly has a thing for Lockwood but he seems obsessed with his work. Now for those who have seen sherlock, Lockwoods relationship with Lucy reminded me of Sherlocks relationship with Molly. i can also see Lockwood as the type who would not want to get emotionally involved with someone out of fear of losing them. So in a nutshell im interested to see how this love triangle plays out. Interesting note Stroud has often played around with the idea of George and Lucy. He has never stated it openly but when people have asked questions there have been subtle hints.

Now on another subject i recall i mentioned Flo a fair bit in my first post. I just wanted to add the following. She is not afraid of being out at night hunting for relics. This lack of fear was interesting as it could mean a lot of things.

Another interesting point is it seems like the problem started in England. Theres mention that the problem is starting to spread. I wonder if Lockwoods parents bought something back with them that started the problem? I also am convinced that they were actually murdered and i would go as far as linking their murder with the orpheus society. Now thats a big claim lol

The skull... Now the skull has a personality and most people agree that is could well be a type 3. Will we find out how poor wilber ended up in the jar? I think this could be significant. I also think the skull isnt evil, i will dig up a few quotes later but like Lucy says the skull is lonely and actually enjoys its interactions with the team.

On the subject of ghosts we have yet to see a friendly one.

What do you guys think about possible friendly ghosts? Could Lockwoods sister be a friendly type 3? Theres a lot of debate about Lockwood and that room. what will happen if and when Barnes finds out?
[+] Spoiler
So you ship Gucy?
But, ok, you're probably right. I have this feeling as well, that Lucy ends up with George (although I still ship Lucywood/Locklyle or however you want to call them)
Flo Bones should actually be frightened since she deals with relics which contain ghosts. I wonder why she is so calm as well.
I cannot imagine Lockwood's sister as a bad person although it could have changed after her death. We don't know how she died. But the idea of friendly ghosts is a nice one! Most of the ghosts wouldn't have wanted to ghost-touch innocent kids, I'm sure.

Shuror: You put it into words. Lockwood is definitely a Sherlock, even with the deducing and putting holes into something while bored. Who would George be then? Lestrade maybe? If he was John, than would mean some Georgewood coming up right there. Lucywood would just be too perfect (besides, I hate Sherlolly).
The problem did actually start in England and spread from there. It say so somewhere, but I don't remember where.
Well, Skully certainly gets a kick out of winding them up, especially Lucy.
I hope for Lockwood's sake that Barnes will never find out, he's mad enough about Skully already.

Lilacdream: Hey, what's wrong with Gucy (apart from the name, obviously)?
I don't think pleasant people would make for nice ghosts, especially if they met a horrible death. The friendliest they get is Skully, methinks.

Well, i think George is possibly the unsung hero of the 3. Skully is by far the most interesting character and SherLockwood (yup i just did that lol) has his moments of Glory as does Lucy. In terms of which paring i would prefer well i dont really have a preference. But id go with Lucy as i think being in a relationship would take away from Lockwoods character/ personality.

in terms of the problem starting in England i agree. however i think something some sort of relic from abroad opened up the issue or some experiment and i think its linked to Lockwoods parents.

On the other topic of foreign relics etc. im guessing some of the relics in Lockwoods collection are old very old. in terms of history and other cultures has there been similar issues previously in other cultures?

It's stated that the Problem began in Kent around the 1950s. It's never explicitly stated how serious it's become overseas, though imported ghost-hunting gear (e.g. their Italian rapiers) and the effect on the global economic/technological development (e.g., electronic computers are at least a few decades behind our universe) suggests that it must be quite serious worldwide, though probably worst in England.

Exactly. Electronics don't appear at all. But the Lockwood world only diverges significantly from ours with the appearance of the Problem in the 1950s, and development of electronic computers had already begun at that point. From this we infer that computers exist, but have not yet reached the point at which they're likely to be encountered in typical offices, even relatively well funded ones like DEPRAC, or at home. This places them around the developmental state in the 1970s in our timeline.

I found the whispering skull on sale at a bookstore I was visiting ( I already bought the book) and for a used book it still looked really new. A book like this one deserves a good reading. So I kind of propped it up so it was sitting more conspicuously on the shelf, glanced around, and then walked off.

It was a weird experience.
Hey, I'm a mouler!
