Nope, we get the American ones. Which is why I'm upset that they never specify the Canadian dates; just the British and American ones always. We're always either one or the other, but it's never really clear which one we've got. Wish they'd just give us one or the other. *grumble*

Anyway, amazon.ca says September for the audio, November for the book. Wouldn't take that as fact just yet though.

I dunno, its weird. Different publishing companies give us different covers. For Harry Potter, we get the UK covers. But for Bartimaeus, we get the American ones.

JS says October for UK publications and November for US. So it ought to be right.
Yay!!! Finally!!!

Yes, it is weird.

Poor Canada o.O
Don't you find it confusing? I get muddled sometimes between British and American English. In spite of learning British English in school. But most of the books that I refer for Microbiology (95% of which are by foreign authors) are written by Americans.

Well there's no real difference between British and American English. There's just some spelling changes; shouldn't affect comprehension of a book. Styles I find don't vastly change really.

The only real time you should be a bit confused is if you're writing Canadian English (yes it exists) because it (typically) takes both American and British Spelling

Like:

Color (american)/Colour:(British) British version is what we use

Tyre(British)/Tire(American) The american version is what we use.

I've never understood why there are these translations into American English. I can't imagine that an American doesn't understand written British English - or the other way round. But I think it's somehow the personal style of the author when he writes in his own English. If I read an American author I'd prefer to get the American version. It bothers me a little, that I've the American version of BT, tough. I didn't realize. I've bought them because I liked the covers much better ...

Yeah, it is the spellings which confuse me. And a few words as to where they belong. And there is Indian English too. I always thought that my English would never match that because most of the English I learnt was through reading books of Western authors and through my studies (where the language is too formal to be different). And also the fact that I very seldom speak English. So I was really surprised to go through the Wikipedia page on Indian English and see how similar it was to mine. I never knew some of the words I used often were Indian English words. I thought they were British or something.

Ah well, I think English is a great language that way. Every major country seems to have its own version of it and it can no longer be said to belong to UK, USA or anything. And, for me, though English ought to be something like my 3rd language (or 2nd possibly. No idea), I read and write best in English. Because I went to an English-medium school and now I am in an English-medium college. So, in a way, it seems like my native language.

Not every country has their own version of English, over here (Canada) we just steal from everyone else. :P (unless you live on the East Coast) 'Eh' does not count; I have never actually heard anyone hear say 'eh,' unironically.

We spell everything the right way though. :D

Yeah periwinkle, I don't get it either. I don't know if the publishing companies in the States just want to be different, or think American audiences will seriously have a problem with spelling. Seems like a wast of time to me.

Just remembered that Canada had the US release date for PG, so it'll probably be the same for this one. No big deal, it's just a month.

It is one whole month! Till then, I will fill the forum with spoilers.
