Here's an article that mostly talks about Ptolemy's Gate, but does briefly mention the film. Apparently Stroud wants Johnny Depp to voice Bartimaeus. Hmmmm.....

The voice acting choice sounds god, but Bartimaeus as a film sounds iffy. It's not a great book for movies and it has a lot of narraration (footnotes and such) which doesn't work well in film.

it could be done as Barti thinkin (voice over thingy) about those things, and for memories just a new scene

It could work, besides I gotta have more Bartimaeus.
I loved the Bartimaeus books but, like all trilogies, it was way too short.

Stroud liked him to voice it. Pretty Vague.

And I predict the film will be a pale shadow of the book. What the hell can you do with footnotes?

Little blocks of text at the bottom of the screen.
Or asides from Bartimaeus.

Maybe like stop the sequence and Bartimaeus pops up and says wutever then the movie continues.

They could use a voice over technique - slightly echoy for his mind or something like that

Might be an idea... Barti's voice coming from the back of the cinema, the rest of the sound is slightly muted, while the action continues - him as a mole digging into Lovelace's house or something.

exactly
I'm always iffy about films based on books. I usually love seeing the movies, but then it completly ruins the visualization of characters for me. Also there's always the chance that they will mess up big time on the film, but if its done right a movie would be awsome. (plus I'm desperate for more stuff)

They're not going to use such techniques. It's never been done before and multiplexes are not going to retro fit themselves for one film.

What techniques mentioned here a) have never been done before and B) couldn't be done by the cinemas?

And why wouldn't they be able to do that? Cinemas have surround sound, you know...

I guess I should be happy and scream yey at the top of my lungs but I actually wanted to become a filmmaker and make a film on this myself. :cookie?:
But now I do realize that I'm too much of a failure to make something great enough. I just hope this film won't turn out like Harry Potter crap (excuse me, no i do like the books, but the movies sucked b/c of harry's facial expression on the posters everywhere). NO movie can ever mach the greatness of a book. I'll never like this movie, although I'd enjoy viewing it, b/c it surely won't be as perfect as the book, and I don't want anything less than perfect for it. :gladstone:

That's mostly for abiviance.... It has to come from the Back which entails some main speakers there. Which most cinemas don't have.

Rubbish. Cinemas have proper speakers all around.
