Not a writer, just a consultant. I believe Pullman had some say about the Golden Compass movie.

And they will screw it up, as most people making fantasy movies are trying for a Harry Potter/Lord of the Rings repeat. i.e. Eragon.

Consultant, yes. Writers need to be good too. Plot is mostly problems with these adaptations.

Well then I guess we go with plan drastic. :ninja7: And Theymight do a good job! You never know . . .

The writing is important, yes.

But it honestly isn't the most important thing. If the plot is good. The characterizations can be worked on with the actors/director/editing.

Most important is a good budget and director. Without a good director the movie is going to be awful.

The actors are a large part too, dont you forget!
for some reason im more into the musical score when it comes to movies *thinking john williams*, but i shouldn't think about that yet since it's not really that critical

good director, good writer, good actors...maybe good producers too? :hmm:

Acting can be fixed with good directing and editing.

Good producers are also good, but less critical than good editing (which involves a score) in my opinion.

I'd like John Williams or Howard Shore.

maybe it would help if the actors would actually read the book...not that's it's necessary, but it would help them understand the characters a lot more than when they read the script from the movie.

My life would be complete if Thomas Newman does the music.

And Tim Burton directs it with either Andy Serkis or Johnny Depp doing Bartimaeus

I wanted Noah Hathaway for Nat originally, but he's really old now, so I'll settle for Liam Aiken or Logan Lerman(sp?)

I want Jennifer Connelly for Jane maybe...she's a little old, but I think she can pull it off and she has cool werewolf eyes

And Kitty's gotta be Genevieve Gaunt

Johnny Depp as Barti?

I never pictured that. Maybe it would work.

I wonder who will actually end up taking on the project of turning the books into movies...

Well you've never met me so hello. I'm Canadian too so Luciene's started to stalk me as well as club she made up.
And I like Billy Crystal's voice for Bartimaeus. Johnny Depp might work...
Luciene's going to make fun of that choice...
And Genevieve Gaunt doesn't seem the right one...

Billy Crystal? Hah!

I honestly have no idea whom I would choose to voice Bartimaeus. And obviously, more than one person would have to take on the role, as he transforms so often.

Whereabouts in Canada, dear? I'm an Ontarian, myself.

Club she made up? Dear me, I've missed quite a lot, would anyone care to fill me in?

Actually, she just made it and ditched RAMMY. I think the new one originated because I kept calling Luciene a he, making her change to Ernest for a while, then she decided to stalk me.
I used to be in B.C. Now I unfortunately live rather close to Luciene, and so she wants to "visit" me.
Edit: Meh, I think Billy Crystal will in some cases, match.

Ernest? Anything but. :D

But I want to know what Ptolemy's gonna look like . . .

And I think I like Johnny Depp as the voice of Barti. huh.

Stroud mentioned that his wife wanted Johnny almost two years ago.

And Genevieve Gaunt is LOVE, seriously.

Also she looks a lot like Natalie Portman when she was younger and did Leon.

The pics look cool Luciene, though I have no idea whom u'll are talking abt.

Yes, Gladstone gets annoyed with that, so we other members tend to do that.
Yes, I can see the similarity, but I still think she's too young (how old is she?) and Kitty doesn't seemed to form in my mind when I see her. At least with that hair for GE. For PG it seems ok. But that's just my opinion.

I think the actors need to read the books, and there's something else: Stroud needs as must power as possible to dictate what goes on. Without him, It we be another Eragon. And we all know how that one turned out.
Voices are less important than looks, Effects, and how close they (meaning studios) stay close to the books.

How about we just say to them to get Stroud on their team, get a bunch of good actors that can read, a good director who actually gets the trilogy, and good computer geeks. Well? That's all I got.
