Truly depends on who directs it. Could be a disaster like Eragon, which now that I look back on it was drawn way too much from modern stories, or it could be great such as Harry Potter or Series of Unfortunate Events

Be positive. I feel it might turn out to be quite good. Magic is always better potrayed on screen (excluding Eragon of course). Also, even if it is a disaster, I reckon more ppl would start to read the book if the movie releases. That was quite the case in HP. But the HP movies were good, so u can't exactly say.

I think the fourth movie of HP was the worst. All the others were pretty good.
The trailers of the 4th movie were so awesome, I went to the theatre with high expectations. I was so terribly disappointed! It was the worst movie with the best trailer.

the 4th movie disappointed me too =( the movie went way too fast, they skipped many parts in the book, and for some reason, when i watched it a few more times, to me it seemed...well kinda fake. still, there were some good parts in it though

hopefully they'll stay true to the book when they make the bartimaeus movie

oh btw this is my first post :new:

Yes, but many films can still be great while drifting a bit off the book. But then most fail.
Hi to all! I am new here. You see I just finished reading the trilogy and i found it very amusing.
Unfortunately I believe that the adaption of the books wont satisfy the fans. You saw how bad was the adaption of the trilogy His Dark Materials.
Ok here we dont have any direct offences to catholics or other similar problems.
But the whole story is about the relationship between master and servant and about Bartimaeu's footnotes and memories. How is it possible to put all these things into a movie?Bartimaeu's memories are 1 movie only by themselves!!

I'm afraid it'll be like the movie Eragon...a fantasy movie that needed a bigger budget and a good cast, but didn't get either.

But Bart has a good story going for it. If they can capture it.

Thats what I'm afraid of too. Eragon was a huuge disappointment for me. And right now im busy fretting over three book movies. Bart, Inkheart, and Artemis Fowl. I cant handle it anymore!! *jumps out window*

Anywho . . .

Exactly!
Producers have to understand that itsnot their 1st priority to make an epic fantasy film, full of special effects. The most important is to make a film to enjoy the audience. And they should not forget Bartimaeu's flashbacks.
They are very important too.
I believe bartimaeus trilogy is too difficult to be adapted succesfully to movies.
They have destroyed much easier to adapt, bestsellers!
*sigh* exactly.

And welcome! :welcome:

Whoa, whoa! Their making Inkheart into a movie? Damn. Well, I didn't really like it...
I've mentioned this...
One: They need good writers to make a good film. And that's hard, seeing the writer strike...
Two: The flashbacks would be hard and take a long time, and the thing producers hate to do is extend the movie. They think we get too bored easily. Some of us do, but if the movie is exciting and good, it'll never be too long!
Three: Yes, the graphics are too focused on. I've said enough.
Four: Nothing is too difficult spartian13, they thought the Lord of the Rings was too hard to convert. But look how great it is!
Almost done filming it actually.

Some of the actors and actresses are pretty good; the acting might just be okay. But the plot I'm still worried about.
But . . my Dustfinger!!

Anyway, back on topic...

Though graphics aren't the first priority it would be good to have a nice budget. But The Golden Compass probably blew all hope of that....

Secondly, like you said we need good writers. But I think that it'll be fine if they incorporate Mr. Stroud.

A good director is really, really, really critical. And of course, so are good actors. Especially for Bart.

Right, good voices for Bart. And unfortunely, I don't think Stroud is going to be employed to be writer, unless there's no other ones.
AND THEY BETTER NOT SCREW UP THIS ONE! Most films by fantasy adaption is messed. I think the writers and directors just don't understand the true meaning of these books.
If the kill this film things are gonna get . . . drastic. :ninja2:
