The American Cover

Ptolemy's Gate

I have to say that kind of intrigued me at first, and it grew on me while I was reading it, so I have no complaints.

I prefer the American covers in general: Shiny, cool fonts, just seem to me very Bartimaeus-ish. But, I didn't like the minotaur or the lioness. Especially the lioness, which I thought was a gerbil in a helmet at first, and even after I knew it was a lioness, it still looked like a gerbil. Very Spiffy Gargoyle --> Bull-like creature --> Gerbil... a bit of a decline there, don't you think?

There was one other version (an alternate American version, I think?) of the cover of Amulet with the amulet in the middle and London in the background. On the back there were a few simple lines describing the story, with footnotes by Bartimaeus. I think that was what drew me to the book in the first place, but I never saw that version again.

on twilight it says: "this tale of tortured demon lovers entices".
i wouldn't call bella a tortured demon lover, exactly.

I haven't read the book, but that sounds really, really unflattering.

no kidding.
trust me, it's not about tortured demon lovers.
I have no idea what most of the things are on the american covers.
I thought they were just demons in various weird shapes.
Look, Queezle.

I think it would be brilliant if: normal cover (not London in background) - A darkly tantalizing tale. + those footnotes.
I'll take a potato chip...AND EAT IT!! - American Light Yagami

Which footnotes?
Look, Queezle.
I like the one with London. It's the only one I've seen in real life.

well that's not true for all of us.
aka just me, probably.
Look, Queezle.
i think both the US and UK covers were good actually, although the UK editions seem more darker and mature than the US ones...but that's just me.

We saw that come into play during Ptolemy's death/Nat's summoning.

The minotuar was at the museum, yes.

The gargoyle was at the beginning of AoS.

And the alternate book cover for the US is London with an amulet on the front.
Thats true, because Bartimaeus promised himself that he'd never wear the guise of a male lion(or at least one with a mane)ever again after Ptolemy's death.
