Call me stupid but all through the book I was trying to find what Bartimaeus' guise was on the American cover. Help?

I think the american covers were pretty much made up on the spot.

Barti mentioned having a mane when Ptolemy was attacked, so, either he is a Lion, or on purposfully a Lioness with a mane...

Yeah...but he has the amulet on at the time...
I think it may just be an 'all in all' image. Showing us that the amulet will be involved, the firey gate is obviously an image of Ptolemys Gate...fire because Bart is of fire...and also the fact that he takes the form of a lion in the book.

He said that he was a lion, but technically a lioness because he didn't have a mane. He said that manes got in the way of battle.
We saw that come into play during Ptolemy's death/Nat's summoning.

The gargoyle was at the beginning of AoS.
And the alternate book cover for the US is London with an amulet on the front.
