It was scheduled to be released in 2009, when this information was released, which was several years ago. Given nothing's happened on it since then, I think we can be pretty confident the answer to that question is "neither".

As I've been saying.
If we're lucky (and I'm saying very lucky), it'll get started mid-late 2009.

It won't. =P
I don't think they're even going to bother making the movie, not for a while at least.

They will.
They're just taking their sweet time, whoever 'they' may be.

Oh.
Egh.
Ugh.
feh.
I suppose it depends on Stroud himself, if he's still writing the script.

Me too, but only if it's done right.
I'm willing to wait awhile if it's gonna be a good movie.

All we can do is wait until there's something finally new about the movie.

A movie might be good. It might re-ignite actual care for the trilogy on this forum.

At least, until the release date and we're all sobbing our eyes out over how much it sucks. (And trolling the fangirls who are all *insert actor who's playing w/e* IS SO HAWT. :D)

I want a movie.
I also want to do the movie, but alas, it's not to be.
Guess I can't have my cake and eat it too.

Become a famous movie director then. It probably won't be made by the time you're old enough.

An influx of members that the movie might bring would be interesting.

A good example of a good book to bad film was Eragon. I know Paolini got gip becuase he 'stole' the ideas for it, but supporters of the book were disgusted with the movie. it didnt match the book at all.

Also, with the AoS movie, it wont be as good humour wise as when a reader reads the book, most of the humour of Bartimaeus is written and not spoken by him, so it will most likely missed out. It all depends if the makers of the film stick close to the book and how well they make it.

i have to absolutely agree with this and i really hope AoS is not like eragon at all. for the book of eragon i give it a 10/10 but for the film 2/10. think again mister paolini
:welcome: new people!

All I'm worried about right now is whether there's anything new about the movie or not. There's always the option of watching the perfect movie for the book inside your head, though.

I'm 100% sure it won't be like Eragon, cause I heard the Eragon movie was directed by a first-time director. So if (big IF right there) the Eldest movie was made, I guess one improvement would be looking for a different director.

Eldest movie will not be made.
That's been official for awhile now.
Nada.
Eragon got to bad a rap to let that happen.
