That is exactly what I meant. We expect Kitty to behave in a certain way because she is depicted as such. And when she didn't, in a few cases, we end up being disappointed. Nat was never shown to be as good, strong-headed or badass as Kitty, so whatever he did didn't seem so much out of character. Kitty was someone who always seemed to have the moral high ground and she knew it.aiReY-chan wrote:I think Nat's flaws were just as bad as Kitty's, if not worse, no matter how comically Barti described them. It's just that they seemed more In Character, if you get what I mean.
Eg, Nathaniel turning into "The Great and Powerful John Mandrake", despite of Bartimaeus warning him, was something you'd expect from him. It wasn't exactly predictable, and if it was, it wasn't predictable enough to make me think it was boring. He treated Barti like crap, and, although I hated that, it didn't disappoint me. He had a reason to act that way.
On the other hand you have Kitty: determined, strong-headed, badass, and pretty violent, cold, a terrorist at the same time -she's got both great values and flaws. One day she summons Bartimaeus wanting him to be part of her "demons-and-commoners-together-forevahh" plan. When Barti rejects it, she acts as if everything was his fault, in a pretty childlish way, something that makes me feel disappointed. That's not how Kitty would act. It's Out of Character, and that's what bothers me.

I don't like it either. It is just why I think some people react like that.Indie wrote:yeah, i see your point, the fact that nat and bart were made comical make you take them less seriously (specially nat). i didn't look at it like that but i see your point.
I could have multi-quoted more if you had typed your post earlier. =pindie2 wrote:how the hell do you multi quote? *stares in wonder*
You can see the 'quote' button when you click full screen reply? Copy someone's sentence and highlight it and click that button. Or, inversely, you could click 'quote' button first and paste someone's sentence within the brackets. And then, if you want the member's name mentioned, you add '=Indie' after the quote.

Oi, I didn't type [/quote] to make it a quote. It is automatic?
