My current desktop was entirely custom-built by me.
It's awesome.

Gigabites? Megabites? THat's the amount of memory on your computer when you first got it.

*coughs*

7900 GTX Nvidia. Anything more uber than that?!

I bought the pieces myself, but eventually needed proffessional help to put them together.

You need professional help full stop.

I've only got an XFX 7600GT. Can't afford a 7900.
Got a Core2Duo, though (and them things are fast even at normal clockspeeds!), and 2GB of RAM.

Abel, I probably spent about, ooh, four hours or so in total on getting it working, and most of that was repeated calls to Microsoft to reactivate Windows and Office. Had to reactivate Windows twice. Grr.

You talking to me about the comics, Luciene? They're not. They're active desktop objects. You don't have to download anything to use them. Right click on the desktop and go Properties>Desktop>Customise Desktop>Web>New and fill that in.

...active desktop objects are part of Windows. Nothing unstable about them.

Overclocking can be dangerous if you're not careful. Done right, there's no risk at all.

Unstable as in doing strange things to the browser.

The old duo is actually faster... It's a bit unwieldy with heat problems, though.

It's got nothing to do with the browser...

I've seen it, and it has nothing to do with putting web pages on your desktop.
