Yeah, but with a immunity to a disease you just dont get affected from it, you cant see the virus's, or hear them (not counting the symptoms of the virus).

Comparing immunity to a virus and magical resilience is like comparing chalk and cheese. They're completely different. As Post said, the magic builds up in the bodies of the people, and is presumably passed down through generations, granting abilities like resilience and sensing magic. Once the ambient magic goes away, because the magicians have been overthrown, then there's no ambient magic any more and it disperses over time.
