List a genre or certain type of book you are searching for, and let others recommend books~

To start off, I am interested in psychological horror, preferably with a touch of fantasy. I know that such a combination is rather rare, so it is fine if the latter is omitted.

Have you read 'The Perfume' from Patrick Süskind? It could qualify, but I'm not exactly sure.

I've only seen the film, but that's a good suggestion.

It's been years since I've read it, but "The Shining" may fit the bill.

I'm looking for some humour, perhaps fantasy/ sci-fi, but no romance.
Any ideas?

Hmmm.... Have you ever read the books 'Ranger Appentice' evillaugh?

I Think they are great but its a lot of books - twelve.
A survey has revealed, that 99% of all men says, that their best friend is also their lover. Which is quite disturbing, when you consider, mankind's best friend is a dog.
Hmmm maybe 1. The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents - Terry Pratchett 2. The Last Dragonslayer - Jasper Fforde 3. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams.

Those authors have some other great stuff but I'm trying to think of works that don't have any romance in them whatsoever. If I remember correctly those don't.

Alyssmooney- I've read the first two books, I wasn't aware that there was more than that.

Fuzzy- I have read h2g2, but I'll definitely look into the other. As to romance, a wee bit won't hurt me too much, as long as it doesn't have protagonism.

Oh great evillaugh! Here in Denmark I never come across ANYONE who read them. But the rest of the books are really great too!

You want to learn spanish? It will be much easier if you already have a good grasp on another roman language, like french, italian, portuguese or latin. Spending a few moths in the country is, of course, the fastest way to learn it.

I'm perfectly willing to help.

I'm learning French right now, but, sadly, my school - highschool (call it what you want) - doesn't have other languages than french, Danish, English and german

In the Danish school, i'm only in year 8.
That is when we are fourteen - fifteen years old....
Its my second year at french

How many years have you had French?

Edit: Why do you have the choice to learn German? Our teachers says we learn it, because we are neighbors...

That would make me a year over you, which means the schooling system is the same as in germany.
I think we have to learn german, because a lot of people emmigrate to germany, and it's a very complicated language. Have you tried german?

I've been having 5 years of french, but I'd prefer to switch to latin.

Yes I have had German in 3 years plus the first of this year (our school year just started)
And german is actually a lot like Danish, so its not as hard if you have learned Danish first.

Latin.... isn't that a complicated laguage?

Danish makes NO sense.

Latin is very complicated, from what I hear, but lots of languages have a latin root, and latin and greek is used a lot in science.

If danish is like german, it has to make some kind of sense. I know german, and it's very complicated, danish shouldn't be too hard, same with norwegian and swedish. If you know one, the others are easy.

But the thing is - Danish is actually different from nowegian and swedish. I've had norwegian and wedish in my school, and i have a norwegian chiropractor, but I don't understand him better....

I had a Swedish friend who described Danish as sounding like Swedish spoken with a toothbrush in your mouth.
Mind you, I also had a Danish friend who insisted it was the other way around.
