However virusy the United States is, it also has feelings- feelings of malice, evil, and contentment.

Similarly, viruses also have these emotions.

I know they weren't cells, but I couldn't think of anything off the top of my head to call them.
I tried units, thought it was stupid.

They're complicated proteins. (Technically they're a protein coat containing RNA or DNA molecules..)

Ask the microbiologist! What do you want to know about viruses?

Um...

Are viruses capable of eating humans?

Eating humans? Viruses are much smaller than bacteria & are non-living when present outside our body. But when within our body, they enter our cells & use the cell constituents to give rise to multiple copies. Then they burst out of the cells & infect other cells. Infected cells usually die. Hope it answers your question. Viruses can't literally eat us.

Can you genetically modify viruses such that they are capable of eating humans?

Ok, you're using the wrong term.
In a sense, yes. Flesh-eating viruses exist, and do, in a way, eat us.
Dissolve? Fail.

When scientists modify viruses, they do it with the aim of helping humans-not harming them. So I doubt flesh-eating viruses would rank high in their list (flesh eating viruses could be useful too-who knows?). Also, though in theory, preparing genetically modifying micro-organisms sounds simple-in practice it's pretty difficult & inaccurate (believe me, I've tried). And you can't just go introduce a GMO into a human body.
Again, flesh-eating viruses could exist ( I could google-but I'm feeling lazy now) but I have not heard of any (not surprising seeing that I've only done my first year in microbiology).

Googled it. Bacteria that eat flesh exist, rare are the carnivoric viruses.

Yeah, I was right.
I looked at dad and asked "Are there any flesh eating viruses? I know about Bacteria, but viruses?"
I just went with it.

I'm randomly knowledgable. Common sense knows no ground in my realm, it's random and obscure facts that count.
