Iraq is somewhat simple-get everyone out of there right now. Strengthen the civilian government, apologize to the people & help the country without any ulterior motives. Obama would hopefully do it.
Afghanistan-if there was a better solution, it would have been tried out by now.

I'm not exactly for 16 year olds getting a couple abortions because their boyfriend was too stupid to throw a Trojan on, but I prefer it be more open than aforementioned serious cases.

Blah, I think that you have the right to choose I guess (mainly because banning it wouldn't stop anything; even today half the abortions performed worldwide are done illegally), but I don't think that the government should have to pay for it except in the above cases.
Otherwise it's just a way for you to avoid responsibility for your actions. If it's your fault, you should either deal with the inconvenience, carry the baby to term and take good care of it (or give it to someone who will) or at least pay for the abortion yourself.
Note: I'm talking about both parents here. All this nonsense about it being the woman's problem has to stop.

I believe abortion should be legal; as long as people are willing to do it, and as long as a good amount of scientists and medical professionals are backing the stance, it should be a freedom available to the people.
My stance on the right to choose abortion isn't necessarily related to my opinion on the morality behind the act.

Also, I think that abortions (done under any circumstances) should be funded by the government. If the government is paying for diseases & accidents, why not for abortions? The former two too, usually results from not taking proper care of yourself & not being responsible enough to eat or exercise well. Many teenage pregnancies take place because teenagers do not understand responsibility & are sometimes too young to make the right decisions. So we punish them by making them pay for their own abortions? Clearly, the government must also invest heavily in running campaigns & making young people aware of such issues. And many a times, pregnancy can also result in spite of natural abstinence, use of condoms, pills & the likes. And divorces too can force single women to abort the child. Its not always irresponsibility which leads to such things.
