IVF is rather stupid though. You can't have a child naturally so instead of giving some poor child a home, you use technology so you can have one that looks more like you, and that you can try to mold to be more like you.

there is quite a major emotional difference to having a child and adopting one, that is why people prefer to have thier own.

Europe too is beginning to lose population. Mostly because of low birth rates and emigration. If we could get people to move to places there, then it'll be more evened out. Though that means transforming culture...
