I like guns for no practical reason. As far as I'm aware I haven't yet killed anyone. Therefore, liking guns does not consistantly form parallels with becoming a murderer.

Mightbe. I too have never actually understood the fancy for guns. With cold-blooded terrorists, I do. Otherwise, I think its something got to do with status symbol. Its nowadays considered 'cool' to roam with a gun.

It makes people feel stronger (even if they don't actually know how to shoot it, heh).

Gun control is both criminal disarmament and victim disarmament. What's more, is a government that doesn't trust the people with firearms to be trusted by the people? This puts the government as a "ruler" figure, rather than the "servant" figure it is supposed to be (That attorney guy might have said this?). Because this is the core of American belief, we have what you may call "lax" gun control laws.

And that, right there, is a perfectly good reason on its own for gun control. Better neither the criminal nor the victim are armed than both are armed. (Please don't try the "but criminals get guns anyway!" crap. Very, very few do.
