Anarchy would work fine you know. Who needs proper education? :magic:

with the way the labour are trying to make the unis accept people...'so, you got 5 A's at A level and 14 A*s at GCSE, impressive. oh sorry, it seems that your parents both went to university and spent their life savings on private school fees. FAIL.'

Aye, it's ridiculous... >.< Still, as far as I know, Oxbridge are still refusing to suck up to government targets like that, so there's hope...

*snort* for you maybe. they have decided to mess with our year's A levels so i have no hope, they are making us do fewer modules but the same amount of stuff. and im thick, but so long as i move to a state school (my plan for next year) i should at least get in to york.

All I've heard on the syllabus changes (which was admittedly only the Maths ones) was that they were shifting the topics around such that there was even less stuff in the early modules and more of it in the really high-level modules that almost nobody does (crazy stuff like Mechanics 5 O.o).

My Maths teacher's offer to get into Warwick uni to do Maths (arguably the best Maths uni in the country) ten years ago was two Bs and a C. Only ten years ago. Now it's three As at A level and often with a pass at AEA or STEP as well.

we just heard that they were moving stuff around. which is bad because the teachers wont teach it in the correct amount of time. the new science GCSEs were a complete f*ck up. there isnt enough time in the school year and you have to do 4 periods (34mins) of each science a week so you cant take other subjects. AND there is no coursework, instead we do a mini exam on a practical which you have to answer as though you are talking to an idiot who has never done any science in their lives (seriously, i got a low B in the one i tried to answer sensibly and an A* in the one i was sarcastic and partonising in). That meant i got an A overall so im retaking it. if the A levels are anything like that i am sooo screwed for uni. i might end up having to become a priest.
TBH i think the government are just going to import clever people from Poland etc. and leave the british citizens to go on the dole.
