Now if you'd bought an AMD 64 X2, and perhaps quad-SLI GeForce 7800GTXs, you might be able to. :P

The Proccesser has nothing to do with it... There's a quad-SLI now? Never heard of a dual SLI...

Oblivion does get pretty processor hungry, but I agree it won't help with HDR lighting.

Yeah, there's a Dell computer out with quad SLI, so it's definitely possible. Ironically, the one fault of that machine (aside from the price) is that it uses an Intel processor.

Pentium and the Anthalon give similar proformances.

MHz for MHz, AMD processors give higher performance. Therefore an AMD64 3000+ (with a clock speed of about 2GHz) gives a similar performance to an Intel Pentium 4 3GHz. The AMD64 is also considerably cheaper.

However, when you get to dual core processors, an AMD64 X2 3800+ will give better performance than a 3.8GHz Intel dual core, because of a crucial difference in the chip architecture - both cores on the Intel share the same cache. Each core on the AMD has its own.
