But I think they would have to largely use the same voice for most parts. i.e When his guise is an animal, ptolemy, or a random cloud of smoke etc, but not when he's impersonating other humans, I agree that he would have to change his voice in that situation.

Yep.
Other people, and when he uses his 'big voice', which is pretty much just the opening scene in AoS and yelling at Nouda in PG... least that I can think of.

So who do you think should play Ptolemy , since it is one of Barts most frequent guises ...?

Hmm...
Crap, can't remember his name, but that kid in..
Nah, just find some unknown.
Even better, find an Egyptian boy of about 14-15-16 who can look 13-ish and can do accents nicely.

I agree, but he might also need some acting ability.

Well... only for the scenes in PG.

No, because Bartimaeus takes his form it's still going to be the kid acting though, isn't it? Unless there's another way to do it . . .?

They have taken that all into account. There isn't going to be a film.

=D
Oh, you are a sure heartbreaker Apollo. But all in all, I think you're right. The movie requires a lot of efforts, something no producer would commit to unless assured of success. Also, JS has to pressurize the right people, something which I don't see him doing due to his busy writing(& mightbe promoting) schedules.

Until PG, the actor for Ptolemy only needs to be a stunt person.

. . . But Ptolemy talks, Nero, even if it's Bart who's taken his guise and is speaking, no? So the actor of Potlemy would have lines in the first 2 books as well, you see?

But as I was wondering before, that would change if there was some other way it could be done so that it would be easier to distinguish between Ptolemy, and Bartimaeus who has taken the form of Ptolemy.

But yes, Apollo, we realise how hard it would be to make this movie, and the slim chance that it IS actually going to be made, but we are just talking under the assumption that it is being made. Just hopeful, not certain.

All of his guises are in his own voice unless Bartimaeus wants to (e.g. when in Kitty Form)

That's true. It would have been mentioned if Bart kept changing his voice. Nat might have made a comment too.

No, you misunderstand. Nero said that a kid to play Ptolemy in a Bart film wouldn't have lines in the first two books. This is incorrect. He would have lines, because Ptolemy still talks, even if it's actually Bartimaeus. Understand?

Yes, but THE CHILD ACTOR WOULD STILL BE TALKING. Should I talk slower?

Not necessarily. They could dub the voice if need be, that's what they did with Goldfinger.

If you read the earlier posts, that's what I was asking about. I was wondering if there was any other way to do it.

What DC said is sorta a given.

If a bird's "talking" you'd obviously have the voice of the actor for Bartimaeus put in.
