The Eagles of Death Metal are okay, but I prefer Josh Homme's other band (Queens of the Stone Age) myself. Another awesome modern rock band is Black Mountain. I find most of the modern music I listen to is assorted metal subgenres though..

Don't forget the subsubgenres!
In no particular order (actually, it's alphabetical):

*denotes a clear favourite

Agalloch
Apocalyptica
Black Sabbath
*Blind Guardian
Blue Oyster Cult (I refuse to put the umlauts on today)
Daft Punk
Dark Moor
Demons & Wizards
DragonForce (permission to laugh at me granted)
Flight of the Conchords
Foo Fighters
Hammerfall
Helloween
Howard Shore
Iced Earth
*Iron Maiden
John Williams
Kamelot
KISS
Led Zeppelin
Lemon Demon
Manowar
Matthew Good
Metallica
Muse
Nightwish
Pyramaze
Queen
Queensryche (repeat BOC comment)
Rhapsody of Fire
Running Wild
*Rush
Sonata Arctica
Stratovarius
Therion
They Might Be Giants
Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Turisas
Weebl
Weezer
Weird Al
White Stripes

Most of the non-power metal/classical/humorous bands I only listen to for a few songs.

All the bands on that list that I know, I like.
So, cool.

I find your lack of After Forever, Ayreon especially (sci fi power metal operas!), Eluveitie, Epica, Leaves' Eyes, Midnattsol, Opeth, Pain, Within Temptation and Xandria disturbing (and that's only in modern symphonic/power/progressive metal).
Seriously, listen to Ayreon.

I find his lack of an asterisk by Led Zeppelin disturbing.
Otherwise, awesome tastes. I listen to pretty much all of those artists.

I was thinking the same.

Hmm. Which album's better, the Dark Side of the Moon, or the Wall?

Dark Side of the Moon by an infinite amount. The Wall is awful. Can't stand it.
Wish You Were Here and the Division Bell are both better than Dark Side, though all three are fantastic albums.

PULSE (their concert DVD) is quite possibly the best thing ever.

I don't really listen to them much. My mom's a punk rock fan so I have a bunch of their songs.

As to Senty's List (like Schindler except not!): I do listen to some of them, but unfortunately my mp3 player is out of room and I was writing the list from its contents. Also, I'm too lazy to update it; perhaps I have been suitably incited to this thankless and time-consuming task.

LedZep is great, but I really don't listen to them on the same level that I do with Blind Guardian.

Seven Nation Army's my favorite song from White Stripes.
I'm with Sent, though I like The Wall a little bit.
Dark Side is easily the best made album, and one of the best.
Period.

My mp3 player's almost out of room. This makes me sad. =( I've ordered a new one, which isn't actually any bigger (the choice seems to be 16GB flash or some ridiculously pricey and bulky hard disk player), but supports .ogg files, so I can re-encode my music in .ogg variable bit rate and hopefully fit a bit more on. After that I shall have to start being selective from my 200-odd albums (187 currently, I just counted..).

How can you possibly not like Wish You Were Here!? Best piece of music ever.
Listen to the Division Bell, it's awesome.
I also rather like side two of Meddle (the song Echoes). Pity the rest of the album wasn't so good..

Wish You Were here is one of my favorite Pink Floyd albums, second to Dark Side of the Moon.

Memory problems? Hah! 120 gig iPod for the win.

...is big (noticeably bigger than my current one and the replacement), heavy (over twice the mass of my current and new ones!), expensive, unreliable (both generally and specifically because of the hard drive), and very poor compatibility- and openness-wise (doesn't play wma, ogg or flac, and doesn't play nice with alternative software or operating systems). I'll pass, thanks.

Doesn't play well with Linux, you mean.
They've got downloadable stuff to help with that.
The rest, I'll go with you on.
I had an old 30Gb maxed, but got it taken away at school, who's dean's office was broken into, and my iPod stolen.
At Christmas I got an 8Gb iPod nano, and going back to a hard drive would drive me insane.
I've been messing with a friend's 80GB, ugh.
Love the space, hate everything else.
I'm dearly hoping Apple comes out with a 64GB iPod Touch.
It'll be ridiculously expensive, what with flash prices what they are, but since I'm the kind of guy who if he plans on listening to it once a month, wants it on his iPod, it'd be awesome.
