Does anyone have an idea of how the magicians weave sensor webs and things like that? Do they get demons to do it for them or do they have some power themselves? i.e. Jessica Whitwell intimidates Mortesen by having blue fire round her fist I'm still deeply puzzled after reading all three books three times each :krim:

The demons are the source of the magician's powers. No magician can do anything without a demon. All magicians always have a demon hidden somewhere when they weave or make magical stuff.

Magicians CAN do "incantations", to summon demons, punish them, etc. But they have no magical powers outside of pentacles.

No, a demon does it. Magicians can only control demons to do their bidding, not actual magic itself.

It's only by their knowledge of constraining pentacles, Pentacles in general, and things like that to hold them here under their will. If they do have power, it's in their knowledge on how to control, not by direct magic.

If the magicians only have the knowledge to create pentagles and thus contain, for lack of a better term, demons, then where do the pentagles get their power from? Somehow I doubt that the demons give them power.

The pentacles have no power, they only contain the spirits(demon is demeaning) by use of word.

But then how do they summon the spirits from the O.P.?

and if pentacles have no magic AND magicians have no magic how do they use punishments?

Maby the power comes from the energy given off by the candles and that's why they light so many?

it all depends on wether the power that comes from being able to sustain summoning is usednalso in punishments, but can only be used in a pentacle
