Figured we may as well get it out there. Though it would appear that people broadcast their opinions freely. I didn't really like them myself.

I did.

Not a big fan of the IC, so I say it's okay. It's not that bad, but then again it's not that good either.

Yeah. There wasn't really anything new in his plot, or anything special about his writing style. His writing style wasn't really great.

Meh. Warcraft's orcs were shamanistic warriors. Warhammer's orks were sentient fungi. Inheritance's Urguls were two steps back.

When are people going to give up on friggin elves?

If I had more free time, I could make an entire wiki on the similarities between IC and Star Wars/Lord of the Rings.

But I don't have that much free time. And I probably wouldn't do that anyway.

Yeah that was a funny comparison.

I like elves. I just didn't like this story, or these elves.

The elves are too much cliche about them.

And if some book says 'But our elves are different!' It earns my eternal wrath.
Shame of the Super Son
The plot's alright, if you ignore the plagarism and the badly written characters, but other than that...

*shudder*

But my brother adores them. I feel like I've failed him as a big sister.

Don't bother reading it; if you know what's good writing, you'll toss the book out the window, and pay the library so they can buy decent books.

...You're right Hogwarts, I'm starting to sound like Post...
If it's actually possible, Paolini could've been sued for copyright infringement...if it was possible. Copyright doesn't actually work that way, that's for sure. Not to mention it could be harder to write new books later on.

But you still don't sound like Post, because you don't sound so...er, what's the word...passionate (?) as Post.

They are nice. Surely not quarter as good as BT & HP & some of the rest. But if u want my advice - try them. I like the storyline but the writing is bad. However, it would be better for u to judge it yourself. So don't hesitate & read it.

What do you have against magykgurl? Why should she be forced to read the books?
Er, June...you might have misinterpreted N&B's post. He was just trying to make a suggestion. You're not really forcing someone to read a book when you're recommending it to them. If they want to read it, good, but if they don't want to read it, it's perfectly fine as well. No life-or-death situation here.

magykgurl, if you really want to know what IC is all about, just do some research about it, like you would do with most books. There's tons of excerpts from the book, plot summaries, etc. you can find here in the Internet. (Wikipedia, although not 100% reliable, is a good source too. Watch out for spoilers though, if you're planning to read it.)

The Inheritance Cycle is basically fantasy, so if you're a fantasy lover, you can add that to your list. If you have heard of Lord of the Rings, then I'm sure it would be all familiar to you in this book, but in a different way and different story. (Now about the story...some people said that it would also sound a bit familiar if you have seen Star Wars.)

Most people here would recommend to NOT read the IC...but it's your choice, so if you want to read it, go ahead.

Are you mad? Seriously! Did I ever force magykgurl? I gave my opinion. And obviously I have nothing against her. I like her a lot.

Really? I still thought all three were quite good, in terms of prose, plot etc....
Just not enough Bartimaeus's cynical remakrs.

Heh.

I just didn't like any of the books. Characters are rubbish, plot's cliche and to be honest, I'm only finishing reading the Cycle 'cause I started in the first place; always end what you start.
