yeah, umm golems usually crush dont they? and anyways barty says that he cant get near it because he is a being of fire or air and golem is earth. arent marids also fire or air? i doubt that the amulet could help against it

i don't think that any spirit could kill a golem as the golem doesn't have anything inside it. its basically a walking rock with a spell to make it walk. it relies on brute strength and the controllers will to make it animated. And also i seem to remember that spheres had spirits in which cause chaos because they hate each other and when they fly out they are in such a rush to get away from each other. I don't think i would like being in a ball with thre other people for years. Woud you?
you have the power

Ten for Ten, good answer Kavka.
And you'd be correct, Golem's are simply rocks with animate spells and an eye for control.
Take the spell away, the Golem returns to the master or crumbles trying.
Correct on the sphere as well.
Each of the essences of the elementals (whether they're spirits or not is another discussion) are opposites, Water to Fire, Earth to Air, and being couped up there doesn't help. That's why they're so dangerous, why they're so destructive. They unleash all they have in one big furous blast.

Haha, very true.
However, I have another question for you: Can something as simple as a Detonation destroy a Golem? Say Nouda loosed the most power Detonation he could, would it do anything?

I'd say so. Honorius got close with Brute Magic Power, and he was just an afrit.

And on the elemental sphere thing, yup, the spirits of different kinds get bored of their 'limited conversation material' or something on those lines, according to Bartimaeus.

I doubt it. Then the magicians would have obviously tried that. I think it's resistent to all sorts of magic.

As for Nectanebo's answer, I'd say that Honorius used most of his energy just so particles of the golem would come apart. So probably a dozen afrits would get a small pile of clay. But the magic might regenerate the clay, as it did for the shadows that covered the golem.
Possibly. So that again leaves only one way to destroy a Golem - remove the manuscript.

It took three pages to figure that out?

Hey, I didn't start this. I just helped them figure that out.

We knew that was the only way. But it had been interesting to check if the Golem could have been destroyed in another way :D .

Maybe you could make a mountain fall on your golem and trap it underneath...it wouldn't be dead, but it would be out of action.

Sooner or later it would break out. In 1000 years or 10, it would find it's way out as long as it's master lives.
That's the other way to get rid of the golem. Kill the master and the script dissolves.

And we didn't get that until just now?

Admittedly, I didn't remember that either.

I also didn't remember that...I guess I need to read GE again!

Hmph. I still reckon enough magical power would be able to destroy a golem. Just a whole heap of it. Like Gladstone's staff, the explosion that caused probs would have been enough. Or, jeez, a normal explosion from a bomb of some sort would destroy it. Or if its legs were cut off, it might stop working, but if not, at least it would become harmless. Or, the owner might not have to be killed. If the device the magician was using to see out of the eye was destroyed, the connection from Magician and Golem would be severed and that may cause the golem to stop working. Or perhaps the controller could stop the golem any time he wanted to. And the mountain theory is good. Eventually, the manuscript would decompose, right?

There really are endless ways if people weren't so close minded.
