Everyone assumes he and the Afrit died, but umm, they were sucked into the other place.
Their home.
Admittedly, it was against their rules of summoning, which likely killed them, but isn't it possible that they're alive?
Since the magicians assumes they passed, they didn't summon their names again.
After all, it's not like they care...

Blow, blow! I sent in a question (like years ago) & was hoping he would answer it quickly. Anyway, if he is only starting the book why does'nt he answer our questions now, before he gets buried in the book?

Well I just started to read the first book so I don't know the other characters but I do know that I love Bartimaeus! He' so funny and smart. So as far as I've come he's the best. But I can't wait to meet the others.
