Not everything is always in shades of grey.

I LOVED the Sil. Tolkien pulled off the whole mythology thing to perfection. The Hobbit was really boring for me, I never finished it.
Nothing to see here, move along.
Farmer Giles of Ham was great as well, you couldnr finish the Hobbit!!!!

I read it when I was eight and I finished it with ease!!!!!

Go and read it now!

Treu, Hobbit was a bit slow to start, but once you started to get into it, it's really good.

I had to read it in school. It's good, but not as good as some of the other stuff he wrote.

The Hobbit starts with a bang compared to LotR.

I prefer the Hobbit's opening. It really gets you into the story much faster than LOTR.
The reason why I couldn't finish it, was that it was too much of a children's book. Written for children of another decade. Plus I don't really care for hobbits. =P

But-t hobbits are awesome.

The Hobbit has more Dwarves than all the other books put together.

True, LOTR do start at a snail's pace, but they're good if you take the time to read them. Gosh, when I was a kid, do you know how long it took me to actually start the Golden Compass and finish it? That book starts out slow.

Yes, but Pullman sucks, so there you go...

Golden Compass?
Oh. Hang on. That's the American name for Northern Lights, isn't it.

Yeah, it is.

I hate it when people change book titles for stupid reasons...

Yeah. What was the reason for Sorcerer's Stone/Philosopher's Stone?

People apparently would think it was a book on philosphy.

-smacks head. HARD-
Hmmm, I understand why people would pick the return of the king, but I really couldnt, it really is a bit slow, plus the fellowship of the ring has happy hobbits, not depressed ones like in the return of the king

Really?

I thought Return of the King was fast.

Well by slow I mean that some descriptions where over done and some parts of the book were a bit slow
