Sooo...

British troops were captured in hostile waters and held for 2 weeks until being realeased. They could have foughtg back, but the enemy had RPGs and other rather dangerous weapons. They were isolated from one another and were subjected to mock executions. They're home safe now.

Anyone have any other details?

It was all over the news in the UK. A quick hunt around http://news.bbc.co.uk will get you plenty of coverage.

Personally I reckon we should have just sent in the SAS to show we meant business, but meh, we got them out eventually.

That's right, change the topic, BECAUSE YOU LOST!!!! :P

I say we pull out and bomb Iraq and get over with it.

And what right do we have to just bomb Iraq? There are millions of innocent civilians there.

Bombing could start a bnuclear war and where would that get us.... there are other, more efficient ways to handle the situation. I want to know why, when something happens, every one automatically says bomb em.

A nuclear war? With who? Russia or China are the only ones even remotely capable of trying it, and China doesn't have enough warheads to beat the US, and Russia won't destroy itself to destroy the US.

Get over with it? How can you say that?

That's someone's country that you want to bomb. How can you say "I hate America" when you encourage senseless murder like this?

And they can't pull out. They'd start a civil war.

There's a civil war anyway, whatever Bush likes to think.

Why didn't we? :P

Anyway, straying away from mindless political bashing, appaernty the leader of
Al Queda has, in fact, been killed. But, we don't know how truthful it is. I hope so...

Iraq: The Alternate Reality

Explains what would happen if they pull out. It's an American site (i think)

Gladstone is correct, it's only their leader in Iraq. There'll be another one just as bad stepped up to replace him by now.

We didn't send in the SAS because we'd rather not have a war in Iran considering how stretched we are already in Iraq, I suspect.

It doesn't matter of the supply, if they have them, or just one, it is still a threat.

Yes, but unless you have as many warheads, launch sites and defenses as the US, you won't use them against the US and its allies because you will get your country wiped out. Russia and the US could wipe each other out probably. China doesn't have enough to be a serious threat to the US - it'd kill a few million people, and get completely flattened in return.

yes... but, there are people who kill themselves to take out others... those highjackers were taught to do that... they believed it was for the better, so don't you think that there are others who would do the same, on a higher level... as long as they kill some people they are happy to die. And why are we talking about China.. did I miss something?

China and Russia are the only nuclear-capable nations even remotely likely to attack the US - Russia has a few thousand, China a hundred ish.
Israel and France also have a hundred ish I believe. The UK has a couple of hundred.

There is no way a whole nation would sacrifice itself to do a little damage to the US - if you hadn't noticed, suicide bombers are radicals, generally practically brainwashed by radical priests who never actually perform the attacks themselves. They are not national leaders.

Israel won't confirm possession of nukes, I think. And let's not forget India, Pakistan and NK.

Speaking of Russia, I've always been interested to know the Russian Mafia's role in propaganda and military. Could they be considered a faction? If not, do you think they could be powerful enough to become one? They could probably sneak a plan under the noses of the world's major governments, considering how royally screwed the world is without the Russian Mafia having high enough organizational skills to form something of a faction.

And I agree with Gladstone, NK couldn't hit Japan with a missile if they're lives depended on it.
