So like, Kibble, why did you choose to be a christian? I can pretty much destroy your faith just by you answering that question. :) But, I wouldn't do such a thing, but wonder in the first place why you don't want to be Jewish where Hell doesn't loom behind your shoulders, or a simple Buddhist with no emotional troubles, or Hebrew, or whatever. Is it because you 'like the thought'? Because here are some choices:

1. You are born. Reach eternal happiness. If not, rinse and repeat.
2. Abide by the Bible devoutly. If not, burn for eternity.

Buddhism and Christianity share very close proverbs and teachings. Show Jesus to a Buddhist and he would say 'he was enlightened'.

I'm Christian, 'cause the other faiths don't have someone who died for them, and took their sins. And then he rose again.

And you can't say that it was a myth, or something that people just made up, because there were a lot of powerful, influential people of that time who believed that. Like Paul, who used to kill christians. And he was pretty well educated as well.

And I don't really care what you say to try to destroy my faith. In the end, it's my choice, not yours.

I'm Christian as well, simply because I choose to be. I don't need to have a reason to have choosen my faith. I do have a reason, but not everyone needs one.

So like, you guys picked it because you wanted to. Most likely without reading into other religions or having spiritual warfare.

How exactly do I know what, Ac?

Uhm. Krishna. Quetzacoatl. The Maize God. The list goes on. They sacrificed themselves. Also, guess what? Those religions without a savior didn't need one because if you sinned you received bad karma and had to start anew as a lesser species, but you're not exactly being tortured for eternity.

Try not to come at me with unresearched, skewered logic...:krim:

You're not bieng tortured for all eternity in the Christian faith either. That's what reconciliation is for. And purgatory. People can pray for you.

What about Hell?

And Purgatory isn't even in the Bible.
hi there
Krim Horla
Luciene, why are you even coming at me with this skewered logic?

Purgatory is from Dante's Divine Comedy and other such texts, not the Bible. Recon. is there because if not, you're going to burn for eternity if you aren't a Christian and accept Jesus...so, uh, yeah.

Hell is absolute right? So obviously the dead go somewhere while the living pray for them.

Yeah, judgment. A corpse could lay in the grave for many millenium before it is risen to be decided upon.

Whop.

Regarding I believe: Yes, I think we've clarified that.

Regarding free will: Does it? Is there only one path?

Regarding victory: If you want to. Everyone has their own opinion. But why would you want to?

Regarding Kibble's Christianity: Destroy faith? Why? I was raised christian, but didn't really think much of it until a couple years ago. I didn't actually start believing fully in God until this year. Any more specifics needed?

Why I won't go to another religion? I want to get a hold of things in Christianity before I start researching other faiths. And just because I'm Christian doesn't mean "hell looms behind my shoulders". I have opinions about Hell, and they don't match up to what you're saying. If you want to talk about that we can start another thread?

That would be the Last Judgement, and usually, last means that there were judgements before that.

And isn't it you're soul? You're supposed to get new bodies that are like the angel's.
Why would you want a new body?
Krim Horla
I'm sorry, but you can't go having your own opinions about things the Bible says. Granted, it has been altered, but look...you can't go around quoting Scripture in this thread and whatnot and say 'but, I disagree with what the Bible says here and here'. That's like me beng a writr but using horrible grammer.

It doesn't take long to get in touch with Christianity, really...read through the Bible a few times, and then move on to a text on the Four Noble Truths or the Quran.

And destroy faith because only when you are tested can your faith shine through...unless you're just going to be stubborn and quote Scripture at me obstinately.

Unless you cut your body and half and go down two.

...judgment before that in your life, perhaps. Where God observes you, or his angels do. Explain this to me:

What you're saying with Last Judgment is that a body lays, most likely unconsciously, in a tomb in the remains of its body where the soul resides until it's judged. How can this be the Last Judgment and have judgment before that? God lifts you to the heavens, judges you, and then puts you back in the body, and then judges you again? :\

And, if I had a body like an angel's, that would be awesome. Multiple heads, breathing flame, all gold and resplendent...

So you think you're doing something good and noble by testing our faith, by asking questions?

And there's more to Christianity than reading the Bible. The Bible's like a guide book. You actually have to do what it says. And when you "move on" you're disobeying it like when it says "you shall have no other God's before me." By "moving on" to other religions, you're obviously not living the Bible.

Krim Horla
...Luciene, seriously though, and this isn't really flaming...why do you bother coming to these arguments? I'm really getting tired of pointing every flaw in your argument. You keep drawing your own conclusions like I think I'm doing noble, or I'm telling you to go to another religion just because I ask you why you become christian without looking into other religions in the first place. Just, stop coming to these threads, and if you don't, I'm just going to ignore your posts from now on, k?

Yes, yes. It's the 'rose again' part I contest.

Did you know the Quran states Christ didn't die on the Cross, instead one of the disciples took his place? Muhawhaw.

"My God is the true one, screw Muhammed, Buddah and the lot!" Another way to say the same things, eh? So,

And so, Luciene, are going to be a nun? Live out a life befit of sin in a cave? I don't follow the Bible to the letter, so you say I am to burn in Hell?

Buddha isn't a god. He was a person who reached true enlightenment.

Buddhism is really rather a good religion, because it instills morals and so on, without you having to believe in a god.

How convenient, Luciene. The Bible forbids you from looking at other religions, so you have no basis for an argument against them? Oh, look, it's blind faith again.

In honesty, I think any religious person who tries to convert others or prove their god's existence to others is missing the point. Religion's about faith.
Trying to argue against creationist atheists is pointless, because we win on logic, and it comes down to you relying on blind faith, which clearly isn't going to win a debate.
