It was in the news in the Summer. It's pretty much taken people's savings, no-one trusts it, and is going to cost the tax-payer £50bn. Not good, in other words.

It hasn't taken anybody's savings - the reason it's cost the taxpayer so much is because the government bailed the damn thing out when they screwed up and lost all their money, so they have enough money to give people their savings back.
In other banking news, Citigroup has lost almost $10 BILLION on sub-prime mortgages.
