The Empire's ability to modify, change, and influence world events is severely, and ireversably, damaged.
The American's will have to battle with the former satellites for the magical world's dominance. The scenario is similar to the real world after the disintegration of the U.S.S.R, with many many satellite countries, onlly the US isn't the world superpower it was in the early 90s in TBT's universe.

There is no mention of Russia, or the USSR.....
It's modern times, only with a bit more primitive technology than today's, but it still means that the USSR has already defunct, if it ever did exist.

I think he might use both, though Ptolemy will always be his favorite.
