I don't think it's Mwamba, but oh, well...

Well, it was the past history of the spirit. I thought it sounded stupid to just mention the spirit's name without giving any description. And yes, the spirit choose the name & I made the story.

I don't know about that. The trilogy occurred after 1936 (as it was a 100 years after Gladstone's death). That is pretty close to the second world war. Or do you mean I should have written a different war-like situation? Where tanks and bombs are not used? I considered a espionage role for Aether, but somehow it didn't click.

America did not exist. Remember, the magicians are struggling with American revolutionaries in the colonies throughout the series.

In the Bartimaeus trilogy, the main setting is in the PRESENT YEAR. But because it is an AU, all tech is about a century behind (with a few exceptions of course).

Astronomical Unit?

Which suggests it still follows the basic idea in regards to historical events, just farther behind. So we assume WWII will happen about 150 years on, switch up some dates, and be just fine.

Ah so it shall be like a suicide between lovers who both know they are doomed. Unorthodox maybe, but I shall comply. We'll go to the great unknown together!

come on wolf, eat fuzzy already!!!
Mindi Jackson , I think I'm in love. Now I just need to get famous.
Nero was gazing at the stars, alone, thinking about the adventurous lives lead by his grandparents. He had heard much from them; their valour, their spirit. He regretted living such a humdrum life and in frustration yelled to the sky, "I hope the wolves come back! Life would be worth living then!". The moment he said it, he heard a soft chuckle on his left. He quickly turned to that direction. As he stared hard into the darkness, he heard another chuckle, this time to his right. "Who is there?" he shouted. Two people stepped forward. He recoiled on seeing their face. Their faces resembled the look of a hideous, hungry beast. One of them grinned and said, "You wanted the wolves. Here we are".

Nero stepped back and stammered, "How did y'all...I thought....I was joking then. Don't come near me, I am a magician! I will summon my spirit and it will-"
"Too late", said the other wolf and jumped on him. Nero hit the ground hard. The wolf had his hand tight on his throat. Nero couldn't scream. The other wolf smiled and removed a long strand of computer wire. It proceeded to unwind it and Nero, taking this opportunity, managed to scratch the letters "Wol" on the wet mud before he felt the wire strangle him to death.

Lame. Lame. Lame.

Did I mention that this is lame?
BTW, I forgot to mention, the strand of computer wire was suggested by the wolf. I think it makes the whole thing sound quite bizarre =D.

I wouldn't be foolish enough to suggest something so spectacularly likely to be linked to me.
