Unfortunately for you, it's the rules.
The reasoning behind it is that double posting unnecessarily fills up the topic with extra posts that could easily be edited into one. There's a nice shiny edit button up the top right of your posts to do this.

It's "knit", unless you meant our community is a small headlouse, and no, there's really no reason to be lenient on double posting because the edit button is so easy. It's not like we're asking for any extra effort. Just press a different button and keep the forums tidy.
