To day.... we call it read across America... only selected students... mostly sophmores and juniors choose a certain book, and they go to our elementary school and read to the little kids. They read all day... not for just an hour.

Lucky!

I was like one of the only people to actually bring in a book at my AT time. It was very sad. But the teacher was very nice (science teacher. Holla at ya!) and let us all use our mp3 players whilst reading. Twas very fun.

All teachers should allow us to listen to music while working. Seriously, maths lessons become so much more bearable when you're working through loads of questions when you can put some music on.

we had one geography teacher (lovely lady) who let us listen to music, her music. i woke up on the day of my exam with 'ground control to major tom' going round and round in my head. one of our rs teachers makes us listen to calming music, i dont really like it, it makes me need the bog. the art teacher let us listen to queen which was good and our chemistry teacher sometimes lets us listen to whatever is on the radio (or has come free with the newspaper).

Teachers who put their own music on should be shot. Music you don't like is incredibly distracting.

i actually grew to like the geography teachers music. then she left :( however i still cant stand calming music. ive never managed to work out why pan pipes and tweeting birds are considered calming. they just annoy the heck out of me.

Maths can be good if you have a good teacher. Say, one who lets you listen to music while you're working. Or one who's actually enthusiastic. Rare but good.

I hate the ones who say music is 'distracting' or 'unfocusing'. I focus much better if I'm tuned into my music then if I have to listen to my moronic neighbors questions. (i.e what the sqaure root of four. Not even joking on that one)
There is a sort of busy worm,
That will the fairest book deform,
Their tasteless tooth will tear and taint
The poet, patiot,sage or saint,
Nor sparing wit nor learning.
Now, if you'd know the reason why,
The best of reasons I'll supply;
'Tis bread to this poor vermin.

Music is so helpful for me when I do anything. I listen to it to calm down, to read, to feel better, to study...Without music I wouldn't be an unpublished author. :(

? what school do yous go to now? haha

Our one science teacher used to put on opera when we we taking our tests, ah I hated it.. and out art teacher used to let people listen to rap (I hate that with a passion) but too many people wanted their music, so he quit letting us, and though it is against school rules, he lets us listen to mp3 and that as long as the headphones are in

I was kidding. <_<

My MMT teacher lets us do the same thing, but administration came in and now we can't bring the Mp3s, but we can still listen to music as long as we have headphones. And if we don't he lets us borrow come. ^_^
