Rushed? The whole thing was a triumph of plot over character.

I personally, liked it....except for the unresolved veil, Dudley, Hogwarts teachers, the person who was supposed to do magic at a later age things....and the crapilogue.

And the "romance".

Definitely. One death first chapter, three by the third, I believe.

The explosions, doesn't kill you: The slow, painful blood loss from the shrapnel does.

It does. Hedwig's death made me cry.

Hedwig was the famous snowy owl! You see her everywhere! And she was his link to the wizarding world while he was at the Dudleys...

HOW CAN YOU SAY SHE DOESN'T COUNT?
Look, Queezle.

Because he's insensitive?

By the way, check out MuggleNET they have the transcript for JKR's live chat.

By the way, Ron's job in this interview seems more likely than being an auror.

Her death was obvious. She's been whining about not getting enough flying time at the Dursley's since the moment she was bought. there's no way she could have hidden with The Trio for all those months.

She'd probably have given them away and then we'd really hate her.

I thought she'd be left at the Burrow, like Pig and Crookshanks.

No, I'm sure Hedwig would have tried to escape. It's hard to imagine the Hero's familiar ditch him in such a crucial part of the adventure.

True. I guess.

But I still wish she'd lived.

Familiar? She was a pet owl in a cage.

From Wiki wrote:The most common species identified as familiars are cats (particularly black cats), owls, dogs, and sometimes frogs, toads, crows or hares.
She totally ripped of the familiar concept from there.
