Inconsistent. Some bits really did feel like Hitchhiker's though, so it definitely had its moments. As a whole? I don't know. Adams himself could be rather inconsistent.

My god, I've only read 9 chapters of Catch 22 and it's genius.
2 microbiology chapters on diseases & immunity. Sigh.

I really want to read Karen Traviss' new Republic Commando book (Imperial Commando: 501st) but neither Chapters nor the library has it.

501st ftw!
I have a question- do you people have to pay to get books from the state library or is it free?

In Canada all our libraries are free..
Unless you lose your card...

Speaking of which, I thought I'd lost mine back in May, and finally decided today to go and buy a new one (five bucks), only to have them tell me I'd left it at the downtown library and it was on file there. *facepalm*

It's free, though they'll fine you for lateness (and I think they charge for CDs and DVDs).

I don't even have a proper library here. I found a new one recently, but its pretty costly & hardly has the kind of books I read (for example, it has a lot of romantic books). The state-run libraries are usually in the language of the state & is free or dirt-cheap (because each state in the country wants to promote its own language) and since I sadly don't know my state language (i.e. Marathi) very well, I can't even read those books. Not that I am greatly looking forward to it. Damn, someone come and open a good (preferably English) library here!

Yes, and have your yearned-for Senty's 10,000th post bash IRL.

Now that I read that sentence, it makes no sense at all.

Bah, you guys are thinking too small. Why not celebrate every 10th post? Badly baked cookies for everyone!

You may be lucky about the limited library thing in some ways, I went today and ended up coming out with 15 books. There goes my average... *cannot budget time*

Or I could go to my local MLA/MP & demand that he opens a proper English library in my area and, if he fails to do so, I would go on in an indefinite fast (Gandhigiri).

Nah. Your idea is better. I can't live without food for long.
