Answering concisely & precisely is better than writing long, winding answers. It shows that a person knows & understands the subject well & is able to express himself/herself better. 30 mark questions are stupid but unfortunately, required.

That's it? Ok, then. My microbiology sir tells us to write half a page for 1 mark.
Gave structure test today. Had to learn 200 structures (amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins, nucleic acids, nucleosides/nucleotides etcetera etcetera).

Well, how much a mark is actually worth varies hugely. Difference between, say, a 100 mark hour and a half-long exam and a 40 mark three-hour exam.

Some questions mention in how many words we are expected to write. If we exceed that word limit in languages, we end up getting negative marks (half mark or so).

It's the Indian philosophy: If you have to think about something, you obviously don't know it well enough.

Right :D . That's why they make the maths papers very lengthy, I suppose. You cannot complete the paper if you are not familiar with any type of question. The length just allows you time to write all the answers, not think over & write.
