This collection of posts in the previous page and Fuzzy's post is very amusing.

Hahaha! Point! Get it?

Neither do I.
Not at all. The atomic model is most definitely nuclear physics - modern chemistry only developed once a working quantum model of the atom had been developed in physics.

And we mentioned Romeo and Juliet several times. I still have shaiyla or shaika or shailla or shakla or whatever.

I agree, grammar obviously matters if you are looking for a job or giving interviews, writing exam papers etc. But I wasn't talking about that. I was talking about the day-to-day conversation we have with our friends & acquaintances. Who bothers about grammar then?
I do. With predictive text, typing the full words out is quicker than using the abbreviations.
I disagree that grammar isn't important in day-to-day conversation - and it's not like it's any harder to use proper grammar than not. Furthermore, if you don't apply it regularly, the times you actually need to employ it you have to think about it and likely make mistakes. If you use it all the time it's second nature.

Well I am a university physics student.. I'd have problems if I didn't get it. =p
I'm not saying it's easier to use wrong grammar. Yes, I too use proper grammar while conversing, but there are many who use 'slang language' (if I may call it that). Teenagers use it mostly.

I got the plum pudding reference too. I remember being extremely angry on learning the correct structure of the atom later on in the chapter. I felt, 'why on earth teach us wrong & outdated stuffs?'. I had believed that to be the structure for a few unsuspecting minutes. :D

If you don't mind, the term "slanguage" is both cooler and makes a reference to slang, in that the world itself is slang.

Yeah, so the plum pudding joke wasn't so vague. I feel the same way- why not just teach us the RIGHT MODEL? Dalton, Rutherford, Bohr, Wave Model... they should just teach one to the exclusion of all others.

It's to give you an insight into the way the correct models were developed. It's all very well to just say "well the atom looks like this" but by the time you've gone through all the evidence for it you've taught all the stuff that led to the initial models anyway, and it's more informative and more logical to teach the progression of models - the process of developing and refining theories is a vital tenet of science.
I've always seen it taught as "an atom looks like this, and this model was developed in this way.." however. I've never seen it taught without giving the correct model first, which *is* daft.

Yep. The way I was taught was that I was given a chronological series of lectures of models. Very disorientating; the truth was revealed at the last session. It was quite dumb.

That's how it ought to be thought.
I learnt from my friend that there is a 5th book to the Twilight series. And Meyer is going to write Twilight from Edward's point of view.

DOUBLE FAIL.

I started reading Midnightsun (that's Twilight from Edward's point of view). No, the book hasn't released, but the first 12 chapters were leaked by someone. Meyer therefore posted the chapters in her website as she didn't want her fans to get dejected or something. You can check it out here-

Link doesn't seem to work. And if it does work, I wouldn't click it. Twilight is rather tasteless to me.

Oh sorry. I got to check out the link again.
