As textbooks go it's pretty good. More of the explanation, less of the walls of impenetrable maths, and relatively engaging..

I'm not but we all don't read books for pleasure & enjoy it too for the same reason, do we? I don't hate Chicken Soup, but I always get the feeling that some of the stories are made up & not always are they correctly categorized. Like most of the stuff written for 'teenage souls' are actually applicable to people of all age-groups.

I finished Northern Lights. Liked it a lot. How are the other 2 books in the series?

The series in general is great, but the ending's awful.
