Brinsngr - Christopher Paolini (I honestly wasn't going to read it, but you guys say it is less awful)

Edit- Seen the topic. Just please say how you would rate it. How much would you give it out of 5? Better than any Barty book?

High enough that it's definitely worth reading. I can't really compare with Barti; it's just different.

When I set out from the boy's attic window, my head was so full of competing plans and complex strategems that I didn't look where I was going and flew straight into a chimney.

Something symbolic in that. It's what fake freedom does for you.

One could be written, certainly, but the ending doesn't really lend itself to sequels (and I think that'd ruin it rather).

Good book that. Little Brother is about how our society can become very much like the one in 1984 and about someone fighting it, but being written last year by Cory Doctorow it's terrifyingly plausible..
