I did, I use if somewhat often, if not often.

A possible update on the feet story!

Washed-up foot found in Washington state

Here's another bit of weird news:

Brewer: Feds OK'd 'Legal Weed' on bottle caps

Yeah, heard about the next foot. They found that of the four or five they found already, two belonged to one man and another belonged to a woman.
I wish I were a cat-dragon
Then maybe the'll find the one guy's other foot soon... Though I suppose if it was from the same place and it drifted down to Washington, the other foot might be gone...

There's a full-blown war going on in Georgia now. Russia's sent in armoured divisions and started bombing Georgian cities. Georgia's shot down a couple of their planes and mobilised their reserves. Sigh..

Russia are claiming they're "peacekeeping" when it's clearly a full-blown invasion. Sigh. President Prime Minister Grand Ruler for Life Putin is trying to restart the Cold War, and he's doing remarkably well. And I was looking forward so much to not having to worry about Mutually Assured Destruction in my lifetime..

Heard about that. Damn, Europe, you've had it hard.

When you're not in the stanglehold of totalitarianism, there's a landwar.

Also, "restarting the Cold War" is abit extreme. I don't think this will last, Sentynel. Either the UN will intervene for a ceasefire, or Mother Russia simply crushes opposition. In any case, I feel sorry for Russia. Trying to forget about their past, and when that's almost achieved, BAM! War.

What's going through President/Prime Minister/Puppet Master of Medvedev Putin's head?

I'm sure this will get very little North American media coverage; I mean, the Middle East and the Olympics are more newsworthy over here.

And if Russia absorbs Georgia, Canada will have an even harder time becoming the largest country ;(

All these cabbagey semi-autonomous regions and ethnic groups and crap.

Great time for the Chechens to stage revolution. That whole area might explode. (metaphorically, evidently)

It's not just this incident; go check up on news results on the BBC for Putin and Russia over the last couple of years.

That's true. Sad, really, he's done good to the Russian people, trying to erase the memory of the USSR. He needs to be removed from power before he further spoils it.

President Bush spoke from Beijing, condemning the Kremlin for bombing deep in Georgia, whereas their attention should be focused on peacekeeping and the Olympic spirit, etc.

Hope this blows over.

He's trying to bring the damn USSR back if anything. Yeltsin had the right ideas but screwed up the execution; Putin built on Yeltsin's mistakes deliberately. And now he has power he's not going to let go of it if he can possibly help it. My suspicion is that we will see another Cold War in our lifetimes. The conflict in Georgia will blow over one way or the other, probably with a complete Russian victory, but the changes in Russia will continue.

*thinks* Georgia went against South Ossetia being an independent country and uniting with North Ossetia (a region in Russia). Russia invaded Georgia because of that and it supports South Ossetia's cause too. That invasion was utterly horrible and unfair in so many ways (not only did civilians get killed and several cities were destroyed, but a small country is fighting against this one huge country! D=). Would that make the South Ossetians bad too, in a way, since they're siding with Russia?

I'm confused about all this, but I can see that this is just too depressing. They need to propose a ceasefire! -_-

The Georgians are guilty of being too aggressive trying to reclaim South Ossetia, certainly. However, the Russians are guilty of stirring things up in the region and generally being aggressive (plane flights over Georgia, buildup of forces on the borders) before the fighting broke out. They're also certainly funding and quite possibly directing the separatists in South Ossetia, and most definitely guilty of at the least using this as an excuse to beat up a small neighbour who happens to be rather friendly towards the West, and at most playing a Xanatos gambit to cause this outbreak in the first place as an excuse to beat up a small neighbour who happens to be rather friendly towards the West, restore morale in their outdated army, and generally continue laying the foundations for the restoration of the USSR and the commencing of the Cold War mark 2.
