Lockwood & Co.

Got any theories for lockwood and co that are more than a little "out there" when it comes to topics like the problem itself, the nature of DEPRAC or say, Lockwood's family?

Throw 'em in this thread, I wanna see who can outweird each other

Lockwood & Co will help end the Problem. One of them might be killed off along the way (like the end of Ptolemy's Gate)
Uhm...My craziest theory is that Lockwood has the same second name as Lucy (Joan - yes, apparently it is a name for both girls and boys) and that one of them, probably Lucy was adopted and they don't know that they are actually siblings.

Roo: I think that's the endgame.

My theory is that ghosts can, under certain conditions, posess people, and that skully will so posess somebody and help L&co defeat the Orpheus society.

Oh, no. You both think that someone of the trio is going to die?

Considering his record with character death, at least someone is going to die, it's just not clear yet who.

Maybe Quill will turn good, and then once we start liking him, he'll be killed off?

That's a frighteningly plausible theory. He's in a better light now than in the first book, and some are starting to like him (me included).

Kipps is alright. In the end of the second book he was actually quite nice.

See what I mean?! That is pefect gets-killed-in-the-end material! :(

Maybe Lockwood's sister and Kipps were "together," and then both Kipps and Lockwood were partly responsible for her death . . . so they blame each other?

Well I think it was the parents and her own curiosity for ghosts ( look at Lockwood's reaction to George's experiments on Skully) that got her killed.

Maybe the true twist will be that THEY were actually the REAL dead people, all along!

And the ghosts were . . . what . . . fake dead people? :)

I wonder if the ghostly state prevents them entering the afterlife. I'm sure they're not just there for fun. Another point is how do ghosts reflect on the souls of the people they were, seeing as the ghosts themselves are more connected with the circumstances of death that the personality.

It seems that a Type 3 is more likely to keep its personality than a Type 1 or a Type 2. Lucy remarked once that a ghost's conciousness is paper-thin. Maybe this small part of the conciousness which is left marks the ghost as "not dead enough" and prevents them to go to the afterlife.

I wonder if destroying the source helps, or prevents them from reaching the afterlife.

Nope. They were the ones who were REALLY alive all along!

What. I don't think the phrase 'life's in death, and death's in life' is quite so literal.
