I noticed they haven't announced a cast yet. Any idea how auditions will be conducted?

The first two were great.
I thought the third one was boring.

They have and are filming. See wikipedia.com.

Well, that too. And the plot was cliched and stupid.

"You belong in Gryffindor,
where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
set Gryffindors apart."

Well I thought the Amber Spyglass was exciting, original and brilliant. I feel that there are certain things in the first 2 books that hint at the nature of his views. In each of them there's a figure of authority who's subverted to something sinister. (Mrs Coulter, Latrom) Flawed Authority is a recurring theme in the books and in the third book it just became literal.

I got the feeling that Pullman just chose to air his view more blatantly in the third book, it doesn't really stick out of the trilogy.

Nothing to see here, move along.

I doesn't in the first two books, but in the third I wanted to smack my head near the end. The views weren't what bothered me, though. I was the fact that so many pointless things happened. I mean, if we found out in book two no one could stay out of their world for too long or however it was worded it'd make more sense than introducing in in AS. Because it just seemed like Pullman threw that in to make a bittersweet ending.

Orginal, though? I've seen countless books that borrow from or rip-off Paradise Lost. Though his are some of the more orginal of that nature, I couldn't help rolling my eyes a bit. But what really got me was that Lyra was never really tempted in a big way. The ending was cheap. The climax of the first two built you up so much it just fell flat.

I guess I might be overanalyzing little but I'm just mad some of my favorite books got ruined by the ending.

"You belong in Gryffindor,
where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
set Gryffindors apart."

Actually, IMDB has a page for the Amulet of Samarkand. But it is only available with IMDB pro, so perhaps they got it from there.

2 years is still an eternity. And, I'm scared it's going to be horrible. Yep. Probably won't follow the book to well. Look at Eragon. But maybe... if the director acctualy READS the books...

Eragorn was beyond horrible. They alienated even their half wit book fans. Rest assured that it won't happen again.

Paolini says he enjoyed it, though...

In fairness, his marketing people would have flayed him if he'd said he didn't.

And he assures us that Eldest will get it's own film too.

It's better PR if you don't associate with a horrible movie. And have you seen the way people are defending the thing? Highest grossing movie with a dragon as it's lead!

Poalini hated it. He had to. And, they've screwed up the plotline for Eldest movie.

How can we know the mind of pure evil? Besides, Eragon was a huge loss making venture, I doubt there'll be Take II.
