Personally, my favourite book out of the trilogy. I particulary enjoy the parts in Hobbiton and the shire.

Thoughts?

I think Book Two was probably my favourite. One took a while to get going. Three was a little slow for my liking (but still great), as was Five. Four and Six were also good, but they don't quite have the charm of Two in my opinion.

I loved Fellowship, but Return of the King was my favorite.

I like appendixes, what can I say?

Personally I like the middle one... as the story's not about to end and you've gotten used to the characters etc.

Did you know that J.R.R Tolkien originally intended to have Lord of the Rings as one book only? But his publishers insisted he split the book, as that way, they would earn more money... It took him 16 years to write it too! :D

Yes, I did.

I heard that they also split it so that it would be smaller. I was watching the material on the extended DVDs.
