Hello everyone!

Recently myself and a few of my childhood friends formed a band. :) I am the one who writes all the lyrics, vocal melodies, and of course sings them! I write songs in a sort of stream of consciousness state... and of course, one of them ended up being Bartimaeus-related. The song is called "The Other Place" (familiar? hehe) and was loosely based off of the book and some of the feelings it gave me, along with what was going on in my life at the time.

In summary, the Bartimaeus trilogy has made such an impact on me that I use it in the music I write!

That's odd - the tags weren't showing up for me, but I checked with some other software and they are there. Issue at my end, then; please disregard.

Are you talking about a specific character when the lyrics say "she"? Or is it a random magician, selfishly forcing the spirits to do her bidding.

Luciene-- When I wrote this part I was thinking almost as if from the perspective of the Other Place itself. We know that the magicians' call forces pieces of essence into a tangible shape in our world. So, "she" is actually the shape that this particular Spirit is forced to take. Alternatively, the song also reflects that moment when Kitty looks into Bartimaeus's (Ptolemy's) eyes and therefore sees the other place, and all the depth it entails. Refers a little bit to her journey into the Other Place as well, and the confusion and discomfort the Other Place feels when she tries to force some sort of order on the Spirits. So, "she" is kinda like a form that is forced in one way or another. I hope this makes sense. My mind is in a strange place when I write lyrics ^_^
